CM seeks Belarus investment in Punjab
Welcomes German cooperation in water programme

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that there are good friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus; however, there is a need to take solid steps to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries.

Belarus Ambassador Andrei Ermolovich called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Monday. Matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations and promotion of cooperation in different sectors were discussed in the meeting.

The chief minister said that economic cooperation could also be enhanced through exchange of trade delegations.

He said there was a vast scope of investment in agriculture, mining, livestock, industry and other sectors in Punjab and Belarus investors could take benefit from investment opportunities in the province.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab wanted to benefit from the skill and expertise of Belarus in auto industry and he would visit Belarus at the earliest.

Belarus Ambassador Andrei Ermolovich said that Belarus attaches high importance to its relations with Pakistan especially Punjab and wants promotion of trade relations between the two countries.

Provincial Minister for Industries Ch Muhammad Shafiq, MPA Ali Raza Gillani, Chairman Punjab Investment Board, Secretary Industries and officers concerned were present on the occasion.

Saaf PanI: Shahbaz Sharif has asked German experts to provide technical assistance to the Punjab government in capacity-building of Saaf Pani companies.

Experts of a prominent German company in water sector called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the Punjab government had evolved a big programme for provision of clean drinking water to citizens through “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”.

He said potable water was the basic need for a healthy life. He said he had promised with the people of the province that they would be provided clean drinking water and work was in progress on this programme with commitment and determination. He said that under “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”, the same drinking water would be provided to the citizens as was available to the elite.

He said this programme was of utmost importance in establishing a healthy society and this was not merely a programme but a movement and had to be implemented with hard work, passion and determination.

He said he personally reviewed the programme on regular basis and the programme would have to be implemented with team spirit in a professional manner.

He directed to form a committee to submit final recommendations regarding consultation.

He said that selection of German experts for clean drinking water programme was welcome. He said he was pleased that internationally renowned German company had been selected as consultant for this programme in a transparent manner; German experience and skill would prove very useful in furthering this programme. Project Director Friedrich Fahriaender said all possible technical assistance would be provided for Saaf Pani programme in accordance with the vision of the chief minister.
